Overview

There are thousands of products containing recycled materials, and many of them are in your home. We all understand the advantages of recycling, but do you know how recyclable materials are remade into new things? Recycling: Making New Products is one in four entertaining educational books in the Garbology Kids waste management series, for young children. The children visit the recycling exhibit at the local museum and participate in a scavenger hunt to uncover how raw materials are made into paper, plastic, glass, and metal, and then into new products. Four pages presenting recycling facts and activities for children appear at the back of the book, followed by a two-page section for parents, with tips on explaining the recycling pyramid.

Persad is the author of the Garbology Kids waste management series for children, which includes Where Do Recyclable Materials Go?, Operation: Reuse It!, and We Can Reduce: Precycle It! and have been mentioned in many publications like Time for Kids, Recycling Today, Green Teacher Magazine, Green Living Magazine, and Mother Nature Network. Persad received her degree in sociology from New York University. Persad's latest award-winning book What Is Coronavirus? How It Infects, How It Spreads, and How to Stay Safe (ages 12 and up) tackles questions and concerns about the coronavirus. She also holds an MBA from the University of Central Florida and a Graduate Diploma in Publishing.
