Author Information

The authors of this cookbook, history book, and travel companion are twenty-year veterans of food and travel writing. LINDA BAUER is a self-syndicated food and travel columnist and educator and is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She is author of The New American Sampler Cookbook, with the favorite recipes of the President and Congress, advances and royalties from which were donated to the American Red Cross and World Vision. COLONEL STEVE BAUER retired from the United States Army in 1993 after twenty-eight years of service. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate from Texas A&M University in 1965 and holds an M.B.A. from George Washington University. His military career included infantry combat tours in Vietnam and the DMZ in Korea and a tour with the President's Honor Guard. Colonel Bauer served longer as a Military Social Aide than anyone in the history of the White House, and his books At Ease in the White House and How to Sell to the United States Government are based on his experiences working for Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and Bush. With his wife, Linda, he co-authored Recipes from Historic Texas. The Bauers reside in the Houston area.
