Excerpt from Recherches sur les Relations conomiques Entre la France Et la Hollande, Pendant la R volution Fran aise (1785-1795) J'ai choisi comme point de d part l'ann e 1785; les deux pays concluent alors un trait d'alliance qui renferme la clause de la nation la plus favoris e. Le fonctionnement de cette clause n'a, cependant, pas laiss beaucoup de traces. Pourtant, le choix de l'ann e 1785 tait tr s utile, parce que cela permettait d'exposer la situation telle qu'elle tait avant la R volution. Comme limite, l'ann e 1795 tait tout indiqu e alors, la France et la Hollande font la paix et la guerre contre l'angleterre commence occuper une place dominante dans la vie de la R publique batave. Par suite de la guerre de 1793 1795, les derniers chapitres ont un caract re un peu diff rent du reste nous y voyons surtout l'etat l'oeu vre dans le domaine conomique, et non plus les particuliers.
