REACH for Project Success

Overview

REACH for Project Success is not just another project management book-it's a new way of thinking about success. Written by Gregg D. Richie, PMP, PSP, at Project Success Academy, this book reveals why projects fail even when they follow all the ""right"" processes-and how to lead them to true success instead. Built on the authors Five Diamonds(TM) of the REACH Framework-Risk, Engagement, Alignment, Communications, and Habits-this groundbreaking guide moves beyond traditional tools and techniques to focus on the human, behavioral, and strategic factors that determine whether a project simply finishes... or truly succeeds. Drawing from more than four decades of real-world experience across military, corporate, and consulting environments, he blends practical lessons, leadership principles, and project-tested insights into a cohesive, actionable roadmap. Each diamond of REACH represents a key dimension of project mastery: Risk - Understanding risk as opportunity and culture, not just control. Engagement - Building commitment and trust across every stakeholder. Alignment - Ensuring every decision, deliverable, and direction supports the mission. Communications - Turning information into influence and clarity into collaboration. Habits - Sustaining excellence through consistency, reflection, and discipline. Readers will learn how to: Diagnose why some projects succeed when others stall. Apply REACH principles to planning, leadership, and decision-making. Transform teams into high-performing, purpose-driven collaborators. Create project cultures that value outcomes over output. Sustain results through habits that reinforce accountability and learning. More than a reference, REACH for Project Success is a leadership journey. Each chapter ends with practical exercises, reflection prompts, and ""Diamond Drills"" that help readers apply what they've learned directly to their projects and teams. Whether you are a PMP-certified professional, project leader, executive sponsor, or aspiring manager, this book equips you to lead projects that deliver measurable results and lasting impact. REACH for Project Success also serves as the foundation for the broader REACH ecosystem, including the REACH Action Workbook and REACH Maturity Assessment Tool, designed to help organizations benchmark and elevate their project success capabilities. If you've ever felt that success means more than finishing on time and on budget, this book will redefine what achievement looks like in your world. Because project success isn't accidental-it's achieved when you REACH for it.
