Author Information

Lee McCulloch is a boyhood Rangers fan who is now living the dream. McCulloch started his career as a striker at Cumbernauld United, before being spotted by Motherwell, who he signed for in 1995. A powerful striker, he left Motherwell for English club Wigan Athletic in 2001 where he enjoyed six years before the lure of playing for Rangers proved to be too strong. Following a contracted departure from Wigan - McCulloch was desperate to leave the moment he heard the Ibrox club were interested - he made his way north of the border in July, 2007 in a deal worth GBP2.25 million. McCulloch scored on his debut and immediately became a big hit with Rangers fans due to his commitment to the Ibrox cause. That commitment was highlighted by his willingness to play wherever he was needed, filling in as central defender or in midfield if required. Once Rangers' financial woes struck in 2012, McCulloch's support for his club, and his refusal to leave for a more lucrative contract elsewhere, were hugely influential factors in persuading others to stay. Consequently, he is regarded as one of Rangers biggest ever heroes.
