Overview

This volume is a collection of fragments that break like waves on a stretch of remote coastline that is both real and imagined. Being so marooned brought him closer to nature and to the sacred. Still, he wonders what has been the cost of choices made while those he did not make never saw the light of day. A poem is many things: a stylized narrative, an intimate confession shared with a trusting soul, a meditative thought experimenter, a conversation with an alter ego. It is the recognition of a fall from grace and the slow rise from where we last left our knees. Were the words and verses recited to him by some mysterious voice emanating from beyond, the venerable muse? Is he really their author, or rather an keen stenographer trained in active listening? Should he credit their creation to an otherworldly stream of consciousness, or the unconscious, as each work emerged forcefully with the thrust of both a personal and shared necessity, experiences revisited and reinterpreted, analogous to a birthing that suddenly emerges, defying efforts to be planned.
