Provoked

Overview

The stage is set. Sedalia burns. And for Jake, the reckoning he's been preparing for is finally here. Colton is back, more ruthless than ever; stalking, sabotaging, and leaving destruction in his wake. With allies under fire, homes torched, and lies spread to turn the town against him, Jake must navigate a deadly game of arson, manipulation, and violence. Every move is calculated, every strike escalates, and every secret threatens to ignite chaos. As the final showdown approaches, Jake faces the ultimate choice: succumb to rage, or expose the truth and deliver justice in front of the whole town. The courthouse steps become the stage that will shatter the cycle of abuse forever. When the showdown begins, which side will you choose?

Author Information

Khristopher Burton draws inspiration for his writing from his wife, Dawn Howe, and their daughter, Kita. Coming from a background shaped by complex family dynamics, he writes with raw honesty about survival, resilience, and the pursuit of redemption. Writing is both his creative outlet and a way of grounding himself with ADHD, allowing his characters and stories to lead the way. He grew up escaping into Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series and later found inspiration in the darker works of Heather Brewer (Z Brewer). When he writes, he prefers late nights, silence, and heavy caffeine; coffee or Monster always close at hand.
