Overview

This scientific study is a pioneering work in the field of integration of positive psychology, a new direction in the psychology, and war trauma therapy. Although the war-trauma in Germany and in Europe as the trauma-centered therapy is very good and systematized explored, there are still only few studies how war-traumatized people can build their inner strengths and resources. This work deals mainly with war-trauma therapy and accordingly with the newest research in the matter of resilience, trauma growth and resource-oriented approaches in the field of positive psychology. The next groundbreaking moment in this work, which means a new field in the world of psychology, psychotherapy and counseling, lies in the integration of positive psychology and the Christian pastoral care as in general therapy/counseling, as well as in war-trauma therapy.

Author Information

Author Dragan Mirkovic, pastor and life counselor, is married, has a wife, three children and a grandson. He is active as a pastor since 1986 and for 2 years he has completed his master's degree of the marriage and life coaching to help people better and more professional. In his free time, he plays piano, organ and sometimes the accordion. Occasionally, he accompanies the singing groups. His focuses in the past were mainly the spiritual dimensions of life; now psychological and social sides are more emphasized. During his studies, special interest evolved by him for the positive psychology, since it is positive and solution-oriented and very close to Christian thought. As author he has experience with writing books since 1998, with his first book, a summary of many public lectures, scientific and Biblical analysis of Astrology with the title Astrology and the New Age. This book is the result of his research for the master thesis to obtain the master's degree (M.A. Counseling) that was adapted for the book edition, however. The theme was a recommendation of his mentor, Ph. D. Andreas Bochmann, because the author has his own and family experience (as a civilian) with war trauma in Ex-Yugoslavia and is moreover professionally familiar with this topic through the twelve-year pastoral accompaniment of people from war-affected areas.
