He has a Ph.D in Sociology from the New School for Social Research. He is the author of several manuscripts and edited volumes on populism. His most recent books are Global Populisms with Treethep Srisa-nga, (Routledge Press, 2021); Populisms: A Quick Immersion, (Tibidabo editions, 2019), and Populist Seduction in Latin America, (Ohio University Press, second edition 2010). He is the editor of The Routledge Handbook of Global Populism, (Routledge Press, 2019), The Promises and Perils of Populism: Global Perspectives, (University Press of Kentucky, 2015) and with Cynthia Arnson, Latin American Populism of the Twenty First Century, (Johns Hopkins University Press and Woodrow Wilson Center Press, 2013). Oscar Mazzoleni is a professor in political science and political sociology at the University of Lausanne. He has a degree in Sociology and Ph.D in History. He was Visiting Professor and Fellow in various universities including Columbia, Cornell, University of Sorbonne I and Science-Po Paris. His research has been published in international journals such as Government and Opposition, Party Politics, Political Studies, Comparative European Politics, and European Politics and Society. He is co-editor of Political Populism. Handbook on Concepts, Questions and Strategies of Research (Nomos, 2021) and Sovereignism and Populism: Citizens, Voters and Parties in Western European Democracies (Routledge, 2021). He is the principal investigator of a four-year international project on populism and conspiracy funded by the national research agencies of Switzerland and Austria.
