OverviewThis is the fictional life story of three generations of white settlers in Kenya, told intermingled with true historical events. William Shrimes arrived in the British Crown Colony in 1939. There he painstakingly built up his farm. In 1969, his son James returns from England to his father's property. The reunion ends in a quarrel and William realises what big mistakes he has made in the past. That is not all that is unpleasant. James informs him that he intends to start a safari company with his two coloured friends, that just when new unrest is shaking the country. The problem is not only that East Africa is affected by a long period of drought, but that the Mabwana are still not welcome by the government. The beautiful but also brutal picture of Kenya up to the 1980s is recorded, its countless dark sides, just like old traditions, cultures. Moderns and antiquities are reported. It reflects history as a backdrop to the events of the time.
