This is disturbing but quite wonderful poetry, because of its clarity, its humour, its imagery, and the insights it gives us into being human, being mad, being sane. I read and read--and was profoundly moved. --Anne Deveson <br>

Author Information

Sandy Jeffs is the author of four previous collections of poetry one of which won the FAW Anne Elder Award, 1993 and was commended in the Human Rights Award, 1994. She is a frequent speaker at conferences on mental health and also speaks at schools about her experience of schizophrenia. Sandy is a very fine performer of her work, and has the subject of many features on national TV, national radio, and metropolitan newspapers. A video was made on the basis of Poems from the Madhouse. Her work is breathtakingly popular, and were she invited to participate in events overseas she would sell extremely well. Sandy has been to sell copies of her work at other writers' launches!! For some years she was a member of the Board of SANE, an organisation established to advocate on behalf of those with mental health difficulties.
