He teaches journalism at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Ted spent 35 years teaching high school English full time while covering sports for various newspapers part time in and around Ventura County, California. He served as sports editor for the Ojai Valley News for 11 years. Ted earned a B.A. from Loyola Marymount University and an M.A. from the University of California, Irvine. He represented LMU's cross country team for four years and served as its coach for another four. He was a competitive distance runner with a 1:05 half marathon on his resume. A lifelong Dodgers fan, Ted has recently adopted his new hometown team, the Royals, and attends about three dozen games each year. In addition to visiting all 30 MLB parks (as well as some of the now defunct ones like Candlestick, Jack Murphy and Shea), he has also attended games at more than 40 minor league parks - and counting.
