It was first recorded as a French noun with the meaning 'Sale in small quantities' in 1433. In simple terms, it implies a first-hand transaction with the customer. Retailing can be defined as the buying and selling of goods and services. The performance of FDI in retail industry explores and compares with the five countries along with India. The countries are Brazil, China, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and the United Sates. The following macro-economic variables have been used to measure the impact of FDI in retail sector.
