Author Information

Audrey Pannier knew she wanted to be a speech therapist when she, herself, received speech therapy at age twelve for stuttering. She received her B.A. in Communication Disorders in 1969 from Wisconsin State University - Eau Claire. She earned her M.A. in Speech Communication from California State University - Stanislaus in 1983, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She and her husband live in Turlock, CA and have two sons and six granddaughters. Theresa Fagundes Diener is the founder of Fagundes Speech Center, a family oriented private practice in downtown Turlock, California. She provides a range of services for children with communication disorders, including Childhood Apraxia of Speech. She is certified and recognized by CASANA for advanced training and expertise in Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Theresa is married and resides in Turlock. She enjoys creative writing, event planning, volunteering and cooking. After completing graduate school at California State University - Chico, Theresa returned to Turlock, her hometown, to begin her career in speech-language pathology. Audrey, a twenty year veteran in the field, volunteered to supervise Theresa's Clinical Fellowship Year and Required Professional Experience as a way to invest in the future of the profession. Little did they know that 15 years later they would be friends, colleagues and partners! They enjoy a productive synergy that has always been intense, fun and fulfilling. Like their characters Pam and Emma, Theresa and Audrey are very different from one another. Their unique perspectives and interests add spice to their professional efforts and friendship. For Audrey and Theresa, speech-language pathology is not just a career, it is a calling!
