She has worked in the field of stammering for more than 30 years, providing specialist therapy for children and their families, young people and adults who stammer. Elaine is a certified European Fluency Specialist, a board member of the International Fluency Association, chair of the European Fluency Specialists’ board, an affiliate of the American Speech and Hearing Association and a specialist adviser for stammering for the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. Alison Nicholas is a specialist speech and language therapist who worked at the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering for 23 years. She is currently based in Cardiff, Wales and is working independently providing specialist therapy for children and their families, young people and adults who stammer, both face to face and online (www.alisonnicholasslt.co.uk). She is a certified European Fluency Specialist and holds a Certificate in Solution Focused Practice. She also provides supervision to speech and language therapists working in the field of stammering. Elaine and Alison have contributed to the development of various therapy programmes for children who stammer at the Centre, particularly the management of early childhood stammering and have led and contributed to a range of publications.
