Author Information

Valerie Sjodin has been drawing and trying to make things beautiful ever since she can remember. Through art making she explores questions and ideas. The process brings the overwhelming down to a manageable size. She believes, like much of life, that making art is working through a problem-solving process that often deepens meaning and purpose. Valerie facilitates art workshops and loves teaching and sharing in the joy of the aha moment. For her life, faith, and art cannot be separated; making art is a combination of being and doing; a collaboration and conversation between her and the Creator; a form of prayer and worship. She is a graduate of Marylhurst University with a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in painting, taught Art for about ten years to Jr. High and High School students & developed an art integration program. Valerie teaches Art workshops, and has been in a number of galleries and art exhibitions. Publications include: article in Art Journaling Magazine, Somerset Studio, and paintings featured in the Mosaic Holy Bible. She loves to read, paint, experiment with mixed media, and learn new things.
