OverviewThe Metabolic Syndrome is defined as a set of interconnected alterations, among which obesity, insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, arterial hypertension, a pro-thrombotic and pro-inflammatory state are of special relevance. It was framed in the determination of the enzymatic activity of superoxide dismutase and catalase in erythrocytes of Wistar rats submitted to a hyperglycemic diet (sucrose) from weaning to adulthood, thus establishing a biomodel of Metabolic Syndrome.
