English summary: With its Schwank collections and novels, the 16th century was the heyday of popular storytelling. However, the structure and content that developed turned out to be highly diverse and adaptable, to the extent that they were taken up by various genres in subsequent periods. One of the objectives of this volume is to document such forms for transformation. The narrative process and plot structure used in the Schwank are not only capable of providing structure in shorter formats such as the fable and the Kalendergeschichte (calendar story), but are also suitable as building blocks for early modern prose novels and biographies. Schwank's affinity to theatre is already unmistakable in Fastnacht plays, but Schwank theatre only established as a genre of comedy theatre in the 19th century and still has an influence today. The contributors to this volume discuss aspects such as these in order to encourage further research. German description: Das 16. Jahrhundert stellt mit seinen Schwanksammlungen und -romanen eine Hochphase schwankhaften Erzahlens dar. Die hierbei entwickelten Strukturen und Inhalte erweisen sich aber als sehr variabel und anpassungsfahig, so dass sie auch in der Folgezeit in diversen Gattungen aufgegriffen werden. Solche Verwandlungsmoglichkeiten zu dokumentieren, ist eines der Ziele des vorliegenden Bandes. Erzahlverfahren und Handlungsschemata des Schwanks vermogen nicht nur kleine Formen wie die Fabel und die Kalendergeschichte zu strukturieren, sondern eignen sich auch als Bausteine fruhneuzeitlicher Biographien und Prosaromane. Affinitaten des Schwanks zur Buhne sind schon im Fastnachtsspiel greifbar, doch erst im 19. Jahrhundert etabliert sich der Theaterschwank als Genre des Lachtheaters und wirkt bis in die Gegenwart fort. Auch im Feld der Tierepik lassen sich die Linien des Schwanks bis hinein in Zeichentrickfilme des spaten 20. Jahrhunderts verfolgen. Die Beitrage stellen solche Aspekte zur Diskussion und mochten so zu vertiefenden Studien anregen.
