The Orange Line is a light rail line operated by the San Diego Trolley, an operating division of the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. It currently operates between Centre City San Diego and El Cajon. The line is one of three primary and five overall lines in the trolley system, the others include the regular service Blue and Green lines and supplementary Silver and Special Event lines. The Orange Line is the second line in the San Diego Trolley system with service beginning in 1986, initially operating between downtown San Diego and Euclid Avenue. The East Line, as it was then called, kept its name after successive extensions to Spring Street, El Cajon, along the Bayside in downtown San Diego, and Santee.
