Overview

"""A richly drawn historical thriller filled with murder, intrigue and shocking twists."" -BestThrillers.com In 1914, the serene city of Hobart is almost as far as it is possible to be from the war clouds that have gathered over Europe, as the kings and emperors of waning European powers seek to extend nineteenth century military and political ideas into a mechanised technological new century. Australia is a modern country, by comparison. Women have had the vote since the turn of the century and ancient European notions of a ruling class are regarded almost with derision. Nevertheless, young men are rushing to enlist for the 'adventure' of World War I - as much as for 'King and Country.' To a respectable Hobart family a gift box is delivered. It is a lethal bomb that kills or maims several family members. This act of extreme violence leads to a story of murders and intrigues that take the reader on a compelling journey through the battlefields of Europe to a final reckoning back home in Australia. Author Information

After decades in the hospitality industry and the best part of forty years since opening the Drunken Admiral Seafood Restaurant Craig hung up the apron to leave family at the helm and indulge in his other passion, writing fiction. Craig was born in Hobart in 1952 and travelled extensively giving him the experiences and escapades he so enjoys putting into print. This includes working as a chef for a restaurant owned by Sydney underbelly figures in the early 70s and cooking in Darwin when cyclone Tracy destroyed the city in 1974. Life has been busy and interesting to say the least. In the 90s Craig independently shot two feature films, a murder mystery set in Southern Tasmania which aired on television and a splatter comedy still available online. He wrote, produced and directed both. Having led a 'normal' life of work and duty Craig Godfrey decided to follow his real passion of writing fiction. And with Tasmania's fascinating past he has plenty to write about. Using Tasmania's history as a blank canvas Craig loves nothing more than to weave adventure, mystery and mayhem involving colourful characters from all walks of life. He has published 20 previous titles.
