Reviews

none of the chapters is long, most are short, and the majority are a fairly easy read ... It is a book for dipping into for reference Ocean Challenge This attractively produced book is just what the title indicates. It guides us through the varied and intricate fields of ocean science with the aid of a multitude of coloured graphs, images and photographs and an accessible text. Everyone with an interest in marine science should have a copy. That there is hardly a significant branch of deep-sea oceanography not referred to somewhere in this book testifies to the breadth of expertise at the Centre. The wide range of material covered makes the book ideal for browsing ... it would be an invaluable supplement to any introductory course in oceanography. International Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology 217 (1997)

"""Interesting selection of topics. Short chapters, easy to read, good length"".--Molly Ahlgren, Sheldon Jackson College--Sitka ""...a rich tapestry of interesting information.""--The Leading Edge ""...if you teach oceanography at any level, by all means, buy the book. This book is an invaluable resource for teachers who want to update and enliven lecture material.""--Elizabeth A. Burton, Journal of Geoscience Education"
