OverviewIn the early part of the 18th century, Francesco Bianchini recorded some of the first telescopic observations of Venus. He determined the parallax of the planet, estimated the period of rotation and mapped surface features. This is a translation of his document, retaining as much of the flavour and appearance of the original as possible. An appendix contains results taken with a telescope similar to Bianchini's, built by Peter Fay as part of his research.
