Author Information

Laurent A. Francis is an associate professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium. His main focus is on co-integrated, ultra-low-power CMOS MEMS sensors for biomedical applications and harsh environments. He was previously a researcher at IMEC in Leuven, Belgium, and a visiting professor at the Université de Sherbrooke, Canada. He has published more than 60 research papers in scientific journals, international conferences, and books, and he holds one patent. He is a board member of the Belgian National Committee on Biomedical Engineering and an editorial board member of the Journal of Sensors. He is also a regular member of the IEEE. Krzysztof (Kris) Iniewski manages R&D at Redlen Technologies, Inc., a startup company in Vancouver, Canada. He is also a president of CMOS Emerging Technologies Research Inc., an organization of high-tech events covering communications, microsystems, optoelectronics, and sensors. Dr. Iniewski has held numerous faculty and management positions at the University of Toronto, University of Alberta, Simon Fraser University, and PMC-Sierra, Inc. He has published more than 100 research papers in international journals and conferences. He holds 18 international patents granted in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, and Japan. He is a frequent invited speaker, has consulted for multiple organizations internationally, and has written and edited several books.
