Overview

Nottingham is known worldwide as the town of Robin Hood and is the capital of Nottinghamshire. There are two universities, Nottingham Trent University and the Universtity of Nottingham, both of which are very popular with foreign students. It is home to the Nottingham Forest F.C., winner of two Champions Cups, and Notts County Football Club, the oldest professional football club in the world, founded in 1862. Leicester is the county seat of Leicestershire, inhabited since ancient times by Celtic populations from the European coasts, it was subdued by the Romans in the first century and invaded by the Anglo-Saxons in the fifth. Many ruins of Roman rule are still preserved in this city. The word Derby is synonymous with international fierce parochialism among the fans of two football clubs of the same city. Very few know, however, that Derby is a real city located right in the center of the United Kingdom, the capital of the county of Derbyshire, in the East Midlands region. Here in 1717 the first English silk mill moved by a water mill arose, which with the numerous inventions for the textile and mechanical industry gave rise to the first industrial revolution. To the visitors of the Silk Mill Museum in Derby are exhibiting railways, mines, foundries and the aerodynamic engines of modernRolls-Royce Limited. Derby is also famous university headquarters, founded in 1851, ready to offer international learning experiences of the highest level.
