OverviewIn this intensely personal, frank and unflinching autobiography, the author has been inspired and guided by the immortal words of Socrates: 'The unexamined life is not worth living.' In Not Belonging, she sets out to explore her own life from early childhood through to her seventies, attempting through 're-living' her experiences, to come to terms with her past, and to see how it has shaped who she is today. The process has been very painful at times, but also therapeutic. She has not shied away from confronting her mistakes, and thereby discovering patterns in her own behaviour, as well as that of others. She sheds light on how the wrong choices we make early on, when we are barely out of childhood, have the power to affect us, and those around us, for many years into the future. The author also looks at the eternal conundrum of whether our life paths are the result of Destiny or Choice, and in her own case, how her sense of 'not belonging' has been generated by either or both of these influences, as well as her dual Greek and English heritage. This autobiography, which she hopes will inspire others to appraise their own lives, is a companion volume to her fictionalised biography of her late beloved husband, entitled Do I Know You?, published in 2019.
