David Bowles grew up in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, where he teaches at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He's the author of several award-winning titles, including They Call Me Guero, The Smoking Mirror, the 13th Street series, and Feathered Serpent, Dark Heart of Sky: Myths of Mexico. His picture book debut, My Two Border Towns, is available in English and Spanish. In 2020, David cofounded #DignidadLiteraria, a grassroots activist hashtag and movement dedicated to promoting equity for Latinx people in publishing. Gabriela Garcia is the recipient of a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer's Award and a Steinbeck Fellowship from San Jose State University. Her fiction and poetry have appeared in Best American Poetry, Tin House, Zyzzyva, Iowa Review, and elsewhere. She received an MFA in fiction from Purdue and lives in the Bay Area. Of Women and Salt is her first novel. Duncan Tonatiuh is an award-winning Mexican-American author and illustrator. His books include the Pura Belpre Honor Award winners Dear Primo, Diego Rivera, and Pancho Rabbit and the Sibert Honor Award winners Separate Is Never Equal and Funny Bones. Born in Mexico, he graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York City. He is inspired by Pre-Columbian art, and his aim is to create images and stories that honor the past in a way that is relevant today.
