OverviewNew Perspectives in Indoor Air Quality provides readers with the latest scientific discoveries related to indoor air quality. After an in-depth introduction to indoor air quality and review of current air quality legislation, the book's chapters explore gaseous pollutants, particulate matter, ultrafine particles, and emerging contaminants. This is followed by analysis of formaldehyde emissions, VOCs, SVOCs, nanomaterials emissions, and combustion sources. From an assessment perspective, chapters include sampling approaches, traditional measuring instruments, automatic measuring instruments, assessment of bioaerosols, and geospatial analysis and modeling. Finally, the editors address the health effects of poor indoor air quality and examine how climate change has contributed to these issues. Fifteen detailed case studies round out the book to provide practical, real world understanding of the concepts covered throughout the preceding chapters. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationProf. Avino studies the development of innovative analytical methodologies for development and application of analytical and sampling methods for the qualitative and quantitative determination of chemical compounds (e.g., contaminants, pollutants, nutrients) in food, agricultural, biological and anthropogenic matrices. These studies are aimed at evaluating inorganic and organic species present at trace and ultra-trace levels in food and environmental (smoke, air, water and soil) matrices, as well as the evaluation of the environmental and human health risks related to the exposure/ingestion of such compounds. In 1998 he received both the “Group Achievement NASA Award and the “Next Generation Award ( 22nd International Symposium on Chromatography). He has also received the “Environmental Sapio Award for his research in the environmental field and in particular in the atmospheric particulate matter problems. Prof. Avino is author and co-author of scientific publications including original papers published in national and international journals and books. Fabiana Carriera received her Master’s degree in Food Sciences and Technologies in 2021 from the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Sciences of the University of Molise in Campobasso. She then won a research fellowship at the University of Molise on the determination of formaldehyde in environmental and occupational matrices. She also carried out a research grant at the Department of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio on the characterization of airborne dust emissions from braking systems. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Agrofood Production at the University of Molise. Gaetano Settimo is part of the permanent staff of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, (Italian National Institute of Health-ISS). He is regularly involved in the following tasks: i) Expert in national working groups held by the Ministries of the Environment and Health regarding the release of indoor environments (hospital, school, office, etc.), and air quality analysis; ii) Since December 2015 he is the Coordinator of the Study Group Indoor Air Quality – ISS; iii) Highly-experienced in the design and implementation of air quality assessment and management programs such as: national air quality implementation (Italian decree DLgs 155/2010). Gaetano Settimo has participated in numerous data collection campaigns for the analysis of: · environmental macro/micro-air pollutants · air quality in urban and industrial/work environments · pollutants in indoor residential environments Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
