Expert in Macroeconomic Operation and Management, Economic Development and Growth and Private Economy Theory and Policy, held his positions as President of the Graduate School, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (GSCASS) from Jan. 2007 to Jun. 2014, and Director-General of the Center of Private Economy Studies, CASS from 1994 now on. Academically, Professor Liu has published more than 20 academic monographs and 400 academic papers and research reports since his first thesis in economics published in 1980. During his career, Liu has received numerous national and provincial awards. Laws of Aggregate Demand Changes and Macroeconomic Policy Selections – A Theoretical Analysis on China's Practical Experiences (1952 ~ 1990), Economy of China in Inferior Growth Period, Interest Rate, Exchange Rate and Economy Growth, Development Experience in Zhejiang Province and Development in China (General Report), and 30 Years Reform and Development in China Non-State-Owned Economy are all representative works by him. Professor Liu was too offered Special Governmental Allowance of China State Council since 1993 and was awarded Outstanding Expert of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1996 for his excellent academic contribution. Professor Liu is currently responsible for two major projects. The one is “Economy Development Strategy Studies for China as a Big Economic Power” (Project Code: 11&ZD002) sponsored by the National Social Sciences Fund, and the other is “Research on Transformation, Upgrading and Competitiveness of Private Enterprises in China”, a horizontal cooperation project.
