BOOKLIST (American Library Association) In this guide, Lochhead, crafter and founder of the Crafty Kit Company, teaches needle felting, the art of shaping wool by poking it with a needle, then adding painted and sewn elements. Alongside photos, Lochhead explains the tools readers will need. There are also illustrations of her explanations for using stencils and templates and doing basic stitches like straight stitch, french knot, and back stitch. This straightforward book doesn’t dive too deeply into the history of needle felting or the selection of materials, which will make it easy for beginners to pick it up and get started on projects such as ""Red Squirrel, a scene featuring a needle-felted red squirrel surrounded by fresh pine cones that readers are encouraged to forage for themselves, really bringing their project to life. Ideal for beginners, this book is recommended for artistic and crafty readers who also enjoy nature. — Nataya Culler
