Before becoming a researcher in TESOL and multilingualism, he taught English in the UK, South America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Hossein Shokouhi was Associate Professor in Linguistics at Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Iran, and has worked in TESOL and Linguistics at Deakin University, Australia, and Melbourne University, Australia.
