Nanotheranostics and Precision Oncology

Overview

Nanotheranostics and Precision Oncology delves into the merging fields of cancer research and nanotechnology, offering a thorough review of the latest advancements in precision oncology. It begins with an exploration of cancer biology, illuminating the genetic foundations of oncogenesis alongside the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving cancer progression, metastasis, and drug resistance. This resistance remains the foremost challenge in cancer care. Across 28 chapters, the book addresses precision medicine's role in overcoming drug resistance, the importance of biomarkers, the interpretation of genetic analyses, and the shift toward personalized oncology. In addition, the book examines nanotheranostics' applications and mechanisms in cancer diagnosis and treatment, integrating them with precision oncology. It outlines the design, mechanism, and impact of nanoprecision medicine in cancer management. The final section considers the future of nanotheranostics in precision oncology and the challenges of translating these innovations from research to clinical practice. This comprehensive guide serves students, clinicians, researchers, and the pharmaceutical industry involved in nanomedicine, oncology, molecular biology, and precision medicine.

Author Information

Dr. Ramish Riaz is an Assistant Professor and Head of Department, Medical Imaging Technology at Riphah International University. She completed her Ph.D. from NUST with a specialization in microbubble contrast agents. She has an M.Phil degree in Biotechnology with a specialization in cancer genetics. She is a graduate of Rawalpindi Medical University Imaging Technology Ramish worked on phase convertible nanodroplets as contrast agents and drug delivery agents during her PhD. Her major research interests include nanomedicine, drug delivery, and radiological contrast agents. She has multiple publications in the field of nanomedicine and wrote two Book Chapters on Cancer Genetics, & the Role of Nanomedicine in Cancer Therapy for Springer Nature. Dr. Maria Shabbir is an Associate Professor at NUST with around 8 years of academic experience. She has PhD degree in cancer genetics from Quaid e Azam University and a Post-doc form the University of Wisconsin, USA. She has received multiple grants and have many publications in credit in the field of cancer genetics. Her research group aims to identify cancer genes, which are genes that when mutated contribute to cancer development by promoting tumor cell growth and by conferring upon a cancer cell the ability to evade the cell cycle and cell death checkpoints that would normally control their growth. I am also interested in the networks and pathways that contribute to tumor development and how cancer genes work together to promote tumor evolution. Dr. Yasmin Badshah is an Assistant Professor at NUST. She completed her PhD from University of Punjab in Viral cancers. Her major research is in molecular alteration in viral cancers. Dr, Abdullah worked primarily on the validation of secretory serum-based biomarkers for easy detection of HCC during his Master's. Moreover, he also worked on the production of liposomes and magnesium oxide nanoparticles from microalgae. After his master's, he won the prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship and is currently enrolled in a PhD in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is currently working on heterologous expression, folding, and secretion of commercially important proteins from the yeast expression systems. He has 3 publications in ISI-indexed International journals and also wrote an invited Book Chapter on Cancer Genetics. Dr. Khushbukhat Khan, a Cancer Geneticist and co-founder of BioinfoXpert, boasts a distinguished career marked by several years of extensive engagement in oncology research and development, positioning her as a foremost authority in the field. Leveraging her exceptional expertise, she has been pivotal in driving the progress of biotechnology companies across the UK and USA, rendering two years of remote consultancy services that exemplify her impactful contributions.Simultaneously, Dr. Khan holds the esteemed position of Project Lead for oncology pre-clinical and clinical trials at Trials360, a distinguished subsidiary of Hayat Pharmaceutical Consulting located in California, USA. Her academic foundation includes a Ph.D. earned from the esteemed National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), one of Asia's premier institutions.
