Author Information

Narelle Mullins, having worked as a nanny, play specialist and community nursery nurse, now works in the Community Perinatal Team. Narelle's role in the team includes helping acutely unwell mums form relationships with their unborn or new babies. The driving passion in her work is keeping the baby and child in mind. The team also support children and other family members through extremely difficult times. It became apparent that there was no available literature to help the older siblings cope with their mums' illness which inspired her to co-write this book. Eleanor Ball has a first class degree in Physiological Sciences and subsequently studied medicine to become a doctor. During GP training she had a happily planned pregnancy but developed severe depression. After recovery her personal experience led her to pursue training in Psychiatry where she flourished. During her second pregnancy, when she again developed severe depression, she found there was little support available for her four year old son. This experience prompted her to co-found the website 'Hampshire Lanterns' to provide peer support to other mums and family members.
