My Jersey Life is a collection of paintings and photographs by Jersey-born artist Hannah Blackmore. Hannah now lives in Hobart, Tasmania, yet returns to the island regularly to visit friends and family. My Jersey Life is a thank you to this beautiful island for providing inspiration and support throughout her career as an artist. I was born in Jersey in 1978. Although I have moved around during my lifetime (I now live in Tasmania), Jersey will always hold a piece of my heart. Island life runs through my veins. Jersey is best known for its beach lifestyle, locally grown vegetables and fresh seafood, as well as its wonderful community of people. I love being by the sea, and we spent our summers on the beach. I moved to England (the mainland) at eighteen to study Fine Art and spent several years there before a short stint back on the island, followed by a sudden pull to the slightly larger island of Australia. However, my family still live in Jersey so I visit as much as I can and hope to spend more time there in my future. My life as an artist has been inspired by the sheer natural beauty of Jersey, with its coastal treasures and country-style living. Jersey has changed over the years but kept its charm and continues to inspire artists and photographers living on the island, as well as those of us who have settled in other pockets of the world yet regularly get pulled back by the magnetic powers of 'The Rock.' This is my love letter to Jersey; a collection of paintings and photographs inspired by my life growing up in St Ouen and my subsequent trips to visit my loved ones. I am grateful to have grown up on the island, and I am thankful to be welcomed when I return. I have a pebble I picked up on the beach at St Ouen that stays with me wherever I go, reminding me that there is no place like home.

Hannah Blackmore is from Jersey in the Channel Islands and now lives in Hobart, Tasmania. She is an artist and writer and has a studio in Salamanca Arts Centre. Hannah specialises in writing memoirs and sharing personal journeys, and has also written and illustrated a children's book about a Tasmanian devil.
