Tenney (1920–2017) was a survivor of the infamous Bataan Death March. He was a prisoner of war of the Japanese for a total of three and a half years. After a brief stint as a high school teacher, he entered the insurance business. He worked with the Arizona state legislature in developing a retirement and insurance program for all Arizona state employees. He was also a professor at Arizona State University. He is the author of several books, including The Courage to Remember: PTSD—From Trauma to Triumph. James B. Stockdale (1923–2005) was a U.S. Navy vice admiral and aviator who was held for seven years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War and was subsequently awarded the Medal of Honor.
