Overview

My Brother/Sister has a disABILITY shares: We are all different. But some people live with more challenges than others. Often, we see those who are not able to do things the way that we can as dis-abled. Indeed, they may not have the same abilities as you, but ability is something that they still have. Just like you, they are people with talents, hopes, skills, and dreams. Many people have brothers and sisters with bodies that work in another way, and that's okay. It's MORE than okay. In fact, most of the time it's amazing to have someone in the family who moves in a different way or thinks in a different way. It's an adventure! This is a book full of lessons and reassurances. It aims to change our perception of children with disabilities and to reassure so-called able-bodied children that being different is nothing to fear. It is ideal for children who may be struggling with the realities of attending school with a classmate who has unique challenges or living with a disabled sibling, offering them an image of positivity and the assurance that they are not alone. It's also perfect for children with disabilities for exactly the same reasons.

Natasha's writing is influenced by imagination and clinical experiences working with children and their families over the past two decades. Natasha's relationship focused insights into the importance of bridging the boundaries of health and behaviour to ensure individuals thrive and can have full engagement with life is a primary passion. Holding master's degrees in both Art Therapy (Psychotherapy) and Occupational Therapy she is renowned within the mental health and wellbeing industry for numerous nonfiction health literacy resources, case studies, journal article and other publications (some published under her maiden name Natasha Palethorpe). Understanding the world currently needs more opportunities for empathy and self-care, she is driven to share decades of clinical experience to bring forth characters that are relatable, emotive, and engaging. As a child, Chrys dreamed of being a teacher, but her path through life took her in a different direction. She tried her hand at hairdressing, served in the hospitality sector, and spent twenty years as a manager in Human Resources. But throughout Chrys's journey, one thing always guided her: a passion for helping people.Chrys raised her children and grandchildren with love, compassion, and good moral values. She loved reading to her children and continues to do so for the next generation. Chrys's own grandmother, Ya-Ya, was full of inspirational tales, opening her imagination at a young age. Looking to make the world a better place for children, Chrys realised that writing provided the perfect opportunity. Drawing inspiration from her children and grandchildren, Chrys is excited to share her own stories; giving young people opportunities to learn, grow, and discover the wonders life has to offer.
