Murder by the Book, Balefire Bay Cozy Mystery: 2nd Edition

Overview

Welcome to Balefire Bay, Oregon. Here the cinnamon rolls are hot, the book club is loyal, and murder is just a plot twist away. Ivy Kelly has finally found peace in the coastal town she now calls home. Not only does she have a book club that feels like family, she's entered an exciting new romance with her handsome boss. But then someone drops dead at the Book and Tea Shop. Ivy's gut insists it's murder. She even thinks the real target might be her boyfriend's prickly mother. Everyone else thinks past trauma is clouding her judgment... Until a celebratory boat ride turns deadly. With a killer on the loose and danger hitting way too close to home, Ivy recruits her book club back into sleuthing mode. But solving the mystery means confronting feelings she'd rather keep buried and facing a past that never really let her go... This cozy mystery is perfect for fans of small town whodunits, quirky book clubs, and scrappy amateur sleuths with heart! If you enjoyed Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club, Agatha Christie's Murder is Announced or The Secret Book & Scone Society by Ellery Adams, you won't be able to put down MURDER BY THE BOOK, a cozy mystery, suspense, with a taste of romance.

Reviews

SpineyMe 5.0 out of 5 stars Twisty funReviewed in the United States on November 15, 2025 Format: Kindle ""First I have to say I barely started reading when I came across the line about a stave building. What the heck is a stave building?! It's cool is what it is! So thank you Shannon Symonds for introducing me to such wonderful craftsmanship. I really loved Ivy, she's been through a lot in her life but she's still standing. The rest of the characters are fantastic too, even the bad ones are done well. There are loads of twists and the ending is great. There's a line Anderson says to Ivy that is perfect, ""Think positive. You've already proven you can do hard things."". I think that fits all of one time or another. I also really loved the setting, sound so beautiful. I really want the library, although in light wood, lol. Enjoy"" Catherine Kwasigroch 5.0 out of 5 stars Book club mysteriesReviewed in the United States on November 13, 2025 Format: Kindle This was a great book full of twists and mysteries. Ivy has a mind that says there is mystery behind every corner but when someone dies she and all her book club buddies find all the clues and solve it all. It had surprises that I did not see coming. I read it in one day because it was too good to put down. Definitely well worth the read.
