Table of ContentsReviewsLane's research is thorough; one learns a lot about the periodical trade and photographic techniques of the time-and how the latter business could encompass under one roof both respectable studio portraits and 'boudoir pictures.' The resolution to the mystery is satisfyingly unexpected. - Historical Novel Society Danger precede with caution. Jo and Bridget are trying to find out who murder the photographer Bridget worked for. It is a twisty tale with an interesting cast of characters. The author had some cool facts added into the piece that I did not know so that made it a learning experience along with being entertaining. I received this book for free from BookSirens and voluntarily chose to review it. - Sandy, GoodReads An entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its cast of likeable characters. - Susan, GoodReads I thought it was unusual but particularly good. I loved the complexity of the story, and the characters were mostly acquaintances or friends. Jo wanted to help Bridget. The police didn't conduct a very good investigation, so they did one on their own. They interviewed the witnesses, checked the sites of the victims, and gathered evidence. The characters worked well with each other. The story was engaging and kept your attention. It was very entertaining. The author also kept to the time to keep it as authenticate as she could. It reads smoothly and easily. It was an excellent novel and I really enjoyed it. - Candy Briggs, GoodReads I really enjoyed this book! Ms Lane made the characters and events come alive. I especially liked Jo who is a sketch artist for newspapers, re-creating events and items of interest. The story is almost like a battle between the past (drawings) and present (photography) with a lot of interesting details about that time in British history . If you like historical mysteries that are actually historical, you should read this book.. It completely pushed all the right buttons for me. - Ceelee, GoodReads Author InformationLisa M.
