Overview

"MOSAIC 1 is designed for college ESOL students who are at a high-intermediate level of proficiency. Courses for ESL (English as a Second Language) or ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students are taught in both 2-year and 4-year schools and may be found in a variety of departments including English, ESL and extended or continuing education as well as in language institute programmes elsewhere on campus. MOSAIC 1 is appropriate for students who score 440-450 on the TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language), 135-145 on the CELT (Comprehensive English Language Test), 50-60 on the Michigan Proficiency Test or 65-75 on the Michigan Placement Test. The MOSAIC 1 programme is known for its flexibility and ease of use. The texts in the MOSAIC 1 programme are filled with a variety of skill-building exercises, lively activities and interesting, practical information about life in the United States and Canada. The ""Video Activities Manual"" is new to the series and is brief and inexpensive enough to be used in conjunction with any of the other texts in the MOSAIC 1 programme. Each chapter of the ""Video Activities Manual"" contains exercises and activities for the new Video Programme to accompany MOSAIC 1. The chapter themes of the manual are consistent with those of the other books in the series, including the new chapter 10, ""Crime and Punishment""."
