In Momma Comma and the Soup Drama, Momma Comma and her friends are on a search for Queenie Question's missing pet! To find her, Momma Comma will have to use her favorite punctuation mark to slow down her worried friends, help them organize their clues, and untangle the mystery. Follow the whimsical characters of Hillsword in the first book of the Momma Comma and Friends series as they introduce young learners to the importance of punctuation. (Appeals to K - 3rd graders.)

It has been a couple of weeks since you visited our class. The students remember the characters and their names every time we write. The exciting plot and bright illustrations kept my students engaged throughout. I found it very natural to emphasize the punctuation rules along the way because the author does a great job of weaving them in with the plot. It was also nice for the range of ages I taught. Older students with more knowledge of punctuation had fun hunting for and noticing details that matched up with what they already knew. For my younger students, it was great exposure to content that they would be learning more about during the year. The kids especially enjoyed reading the character profile of each punctuation mark at the end of the book and wanted to read about the other punctuation characters in future books. Leejone Wong has produced websites and online games for TV shows such as The Prisoner and Mad Men, and she has also taught writing at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She currently writes, illustrates, and publishes books in Los Angeles, CA. She is the creator of the MOMMA COMMA AND FRIENDS punctuation picture book series.
