Overview

From Zeus and Hephaestus to Hades and Persephone, this book reveals the origins of nearly thirty Greek gods and goddesses, how they've been worshipped across the centuries, and how you can work with them in your own practice. Jason Mankey and Astrea Taylor introduce you to the gods one by one, presenting their history, unique correspondences, and a ritual or spell for connecting with them. You'll also enjoy insightful contributions from members of the Witchcraft community who actively work with these deities. Modern Witchcraft with the Greek Gods features other mythological figures as well, such as the Titans and Primordial Forces, and it explores the spell and ritual structures of ancient times. Everything you want to know about Greek gods and how to call upon them today is in this book.

Reviews

"""A brilliant and accessible book for the modern witch who wants to explore or deepen their relationship with the theoi, daimones, and heroes of Ancient Greece. The book is extremely well researched, drawing on and referencing historical primary sources, without trying to be a historical reconstruction of times past."" -- ""Mat Auryn, author of Mastering Magick"" ""Inspiring and informational. This is a must for a deep but easy-to-understand dive into these workings...It was a bewitching and captivating read."" -- ""Jen Sankey, author of Enchanted Forest Felines"" ""What Mankey and Taylor are remarkably successful at is opening the reader's heart to receiving mysteries from these ancient gods...This is a thoughtful approach that feels like it takes the wishes of the gods themselves into consideration."" -- ""Terence P Ward, author of Empty Cauldrons"""

Author Information

"Jason Mankey is a third-degree Gardnerian High Priest and helps run two Witchcraft covens in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Ari. Jason is a popular speaker at Pagan and Witchcraft events across North America and Great Britain. He is the channel manager at Patheos Pagan, the world's most read Pagan blogging site, and writes there at Raise the Horns. He also writes for the magazine Witches & Pagans. Jason is the author of Transformative Witchcraft, The Witch's Athame, and The Witch's Book of Shadows, and coauthor of The Witch's Altar. Astrea Taylor is an author, witch, and fire dancer. She is also a blogger for Patheos Pagan and owns a business called The Blessed Be Box that sells a ""ritual in a box"" for the solstices, equinoxes, and cross-quarter holidays. She lives in Dayton, Ohio. Narrator Rebecca Mitchell is a performance artist and classically trained vocalist, as well as a professional host, emcee, and personality. Her natural flare for the dramatic, coupled with her love of being in the studio, brought her to the world of narrating in 2013. Her natural, mellifluous style reveals her rich alto training, love of storytelling, and ease in front of a microphone. Though a longtime New Englander, Rebecca Mitchell was born and raised in the Midwest. The myriad accents and dialects from her various homes, as well as those from her extensive travels, find their way into the characters she portrays. A collector of personality traits, idiosyncrasies, vocal styles, and personal histories, Rebecca infuses her narration with such elements, deepening the richness of her work."
