Every library that serves biomedical scientists should purchase a copy of this book immediately because I am not lending mine to anybody! Author Information

Stuart Clarke trained as a biomedical scientist at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough between 1988 and 1995 before undertaking a PhD in the School of Medicine at Leicester University. There he specialised in the molecular virulence of enteropathogenic Escherichia coli. He then took up the post of Senior Clinical Scientist at the Scottish Meningococcus and Pneumococcus Reference Laboratory (SMPRL) in Glasgow in 1998. He has been the Director of the SMPRL since 2000 and holds two Honorary positions at Glasgow University as a Research Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine and as a Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty of Biomedical and Life Sciences. Dr Clarke's main interests lie in the fields of bacterial virulence, bacterial typing and molecular epidemiology. He has published over 40 research papers and over 90 articles.
