Author Information

Herbert A. Shauger, Jr. is a retired electrical design engineer, holding both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in this discipline. He is the holder of 11 United States Patents in the field of process instrumentation, where he worked during his 45 year electronic product design career. His love of toy trains began at the age of 4 when he was given his first Lionel Steam Freight Set, which he still runs today. His father was an automotive technician who taught Herbert many tricks of that trade and helped him with some of the first repairs required to his trains. For the last 25 years, Herbert and his wife Roberta have sold antique electric trains, many of which required repair and/or restoration.
