I received this book at the end of March and devoted every free second I had to reading this book. I couldn't put it down! When I wasn't reading it, I was constantly thinking about it or dreaming about the Walshes and Foleys and wondering where the story would take me next. It was beautifully written and the author's descriptions made you feel like you were in the throws of bourbon country living the story. Well worth the read and I'm looking forward to the next book! This novel was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! Kentucky bourbon families at their finest!! Secrets, skeletons in the closet and a whole bunch of wows ! I was thankful for the character index as keeping track of all of the folks was made much easier! I can't wait for Book #2! I was going to save for vacation but just couldn't put it down. Brilliantly written, smooth transitions, characters well thought out and relevant to the story line, Marvelously Clever cliff hanger! I feel like I lived in the hills of Kentucky, knew all the characters as I witnessed the story unfolded. Sequel can not come soon enough and hoping the movie is in our future! Well done Ms McKenna.
