Mila, Eclipsed

Overview

A Box of Letters. A Buried Past. A Journey to Uncover the Truth. What happens when the past refuses to stay hidden? On her sixtieth birthday, Marlena Koning receives a gift that will forever change her life: a wooden box that contain letters written by her birth mother, Bella, while in hiding during World War II. For decades, Marlena has lived as Mila, the cherished daughter of Anna and Mies Koning, a Dutch Catholic family who risked everything to save her, but Bella's letters reveal a world of love, loss, and sacrifice, and compel Marlena to confront the fractured pieces of her identity. As Marlena delves into Bella's words, she uncovers the story of her Jewish heritage, her parents' courage, and the devastating choices they made to protect her. Torn between two families and two faiths, Marlena embarks on a journey of reconciliation, seeking answers from her adoptive mother, and finding unexpected solace in the tender love of Henry, a fellow survivor. In her search for wholeness, can Marlena embrace both families without losing herself? Set against the haunting backdrop of the Holocaust and its aftermath, Mila, Eclipsed is a deeply personal and poignant tale of survival, identity, and the enduring power of faith, family, and love.
