Reviews

As a parent of a child with special needs and a person concerned with preserving our environment, I was thrilled to come across Kathy Brodsky's My Bent Tree. The story is powerful and moving; it fosters awareness, strength and hope, and demonstrates great things can be accomplished through belief and perseverance. While the older reader will appreciate the message, the rhythmic verse and fabulous illustrations will have the young ones asking for My Bent Tree again and again! -Selena Sheaves, Author, Chairperson, Haggerty Special needs Advisory Council Straight trees, bent trees, softwoods and hardwoods - it takes them all to make a forest. My Bent Tree captures the power of a single tree to inspire conservation and sustainable forestry. -Jack Savage, Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests This story is so amazing! It is a story about friendship and loyalty. It was very fun to read the story. -Natalie Jenkins, Nashua New Hampshire, age 6

Author Information

"Kathy Brodsky, a psychotherapist, poet, and award-winning author, writes and promotes quality books that are timely, visually exciting, educational and most of all fun! Teachers, therapists and parents use messages in her books to promote life skills and social awareness, and kids themselves request that Kathy's books be read over and over. Themes include: realizing we're all important, the power of friendship, diversity, change, social action, being responsible, safety, fitness, kindness, etc. Cameron first met Kathy Brodsky, of all places, in his Argentine Tango class. While he was showing her steps, she was showing him plans for her first children's book My Bent Tree. ""Need an illustrator?"" he asked, and since then, the two have collaborated on eight books. Cameron also paints portraits and murals, holds a MFA from Lesley University, and has taught drawing and painting at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. He no longer teaches Tango; raising a daughter and son is enough of a dance to keep him busy for now."
