"English summary: The Halle printing and publishing firm of Gebauer-Schwetschke ranks as one of the most renowned German publishers of the 18th and 19th centuries. The firm's publishing catalog has been assigned significant value for the history of the book and natural sciences and it has been transferred to the City Archive of Halle for preservation, which also presents a fortuitous occasion for research. On account of a project supported by the German Research Society (Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft), this material has now been indexed and digitalized. In celebration of this achievement, a conference was held in Halle on the theme of the most important publishing houses of the Enlightenment from the perspective of the book trade. The proceedings of that meeting investigate the periodicals and historical publications of the firm, analyze correspondence between authors and the publisher, and bring into consideration the international connections of the company, especially in the Baltic Sea region, the Romance countries, and the lands of the Habsburg monarchy. The case studies are supplemented with considerations of the history of international publishing in the city of Halle, making Halle ""an intermediary place of the Enlightenment,"" and the meaning of business archives for the history of publishing in the 18th century. Ein besonderer buch- und wissenschaftshistorischer Wert kommt dem Verlagsnachlass zu, der im Stadtarchiv Halle geschlossen uberliefert ist und damit einen besonderen Glucksfall fur die Forschung darstellt. Im Rahmen eines von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft geforderten Projekts wurden diese Materialien nun erschlossen und digitalisiert.Anlasslich dessen wurdigte eine Tagung in Halle diese zu den bedeutendsten Verlagshausern der Aufklarung zahlenden Firmen aus buchhandelshistorischer Sicht. Die Beitrage untersuchen unter anderem die Zeitschriften und historischen Publikationen des Verlags, analysieren Autor-Verleger-Korrespondenzen und nehmen die transnationalen Beziehungen des Unternehmens - etwa zum sudlichen Ostseeraum, zu den romanischen Landern und zur Habsburgermonarchie - ins Blickfeld.
