OverviewBetween the late 1960s and the early 1970s, during the military dictatorship in Brazil, Lúcia Maria Murat Vasconcellos was a young middle-class woman from Rio de Janeiro and a university student involved in armed resistance against the regime. Having lived underground and been arrested by agents of political repression, her personal story is marked by the hardships suffered by part of the Brazilian left under the dictatorship. Today she has a well-established career in Brazilian cinema, in which she does not shy away from tackling intimate and sensitive themes that relate to her experiences and to this dark period in national history. These are the questions that permeate this book, which is the result of my monograph, defended at the History Institute of the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) in 2016, to obtain my bachelor's and licentiate's degrees in History, under the guidance of Professor Dr Mônica Brincalepe Campo.
