OverviewExcerpt from Memoirs of the Geological Survey, England and Wales: The Geology of Southwold, and of the Suffolk Coast From Dunwich to Covehithe The small area, only some 48 or 49 square miles, represented in the northern part of Sheet 49 of the Geological Survey Map, is wholly in the eastern part of Suffolk, with the one small town of Southwold. Geologically this tract is in the London Basin, and it includes from 12 to 13 miles of coast, from Dunwich Heath on the south, to Kessingland on the north. Inasmuch, however, as the small area at the latter place, north of the stream, naturally ties on to that shown in the map to the north (67, it will be described in the Memoir thereon, by mr. J. H. Blake. On the other hand, the southern end of Dunwich cliff (in 49, S.) will be described here. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
