Mechanism of Action: Tales from Retail Pharmacy, Race Matters, and Resilience

Overview

Mechanism of Action-a play on pharmacy terminology-is a collection of unforgettable stories drawn from college and 25 years of experience in one of healthcare's most stressful working environments. From customers showing their butts to being shown the butt of a gun, retail pharmacy interactions have never been boring-at least not for Dr. Angie LaShaye. Amid professional and personal obstacles that all working women face, this African American pharmacist also confronts inevitable race matters. By staying the course, despite the difficulties, Angie discovers purpose and carves out genuine satisfaction while working in the chaos of retail pharmacy.
