Overview

A measurement always causes the system to jump into an eigenstate of the dynamical variable that is being measured, the eigenvalue this eigenstate belongs to being equal to the result of the measurement. Measurement plays an important role in quantum mechanics, and it is viewed in different ways among various interpretations of quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics is the branch of physics relating to the very small. It results in what may appear to be some very strange conclusions about the physical world.
